Before Kennedy Construction could bring this amazing architectural design to life, they had to demolish an aging home, remove all debris, excavate to accommodate a full basement and install new municipal services. Mark Abbott from Connect Design created a beautiful home that fitted perfectly within the neighborhood yet had a wonderful uniqueness that gives the home strong curb appeal. The house embraces its surrounding environment both inside and out using stone, wood, rockery and other natural elements.
The key to the home’s design is the use of light and warmth. Skylights and large windows throughout allow sunshine to fill each room. In-floor heating using an on-demand boiler system efficiently and evenly heats each floor. A stone gas fireplace adds to the ambiance and provides added warmth. All the fixtures, cabinetry and colouring were selected by the Kennedy Construction in-house design team giving the home a seamless harmony from one room to another. A stunning fir staircase leads to the upper floor. Two roomy bedrooms share a common bathroom, a laundry compartment houses Energy Smart washer/dryer and the expansive master bedroom with a walk-in closet and marble ensuite bathroom fill this airy upper space.
The basement area has been cleverly configured to accommodate a media room, bathroom with walk-in shower, the boiler room and a legal one bedroom rental suite. This mortgage helper maintains the warmth and woody look of the home above, with great care and attention given to the finishing.
To complete the livability of this amazing design, the house boasts a large porch facing the roadway and an expansive deck off the kitchen out back. BBQ, hot tub, separate garage, garden beds and cement walkways complete the picture.
Overall, while this new home build had its challenges, the finished product went beyond expectations. Thanks to Kennedy Construction and their design team, not only did it please the new owners, it was also positively received by many of the neighbours.
