Renovating a Kitchen into a Family-Friendly Space

Location: Dumfries Street, Vancouver

Date: February 26, 2016

Service: Kitchens

This Vancouver home’s a poorly laid out kitchen needed to be expanded and updated to create a more dynamic space for the family to gather.

To achieve this goal we worked with our in-house design team to incorporate the space of a small family room adjacent to the kitchen. By removing a bearing wall and replacing it with a huge engineered beam they were able to add a beautiful, dark maple island.

The kitchen sink window was moved over a matter of inches just so more cabinetry could be installed and the overall look had a lovely symmetry. Our in-house designer drew up detailed permit drawings, lighting and electrical plans, and intricate interior design layouts.

Pot lighting, new fixtures, appliances, hardwood floors, and French doors leading out to an expansive deck rounded out the renovation. Now the family catches up on the day’s news together in a functional and stunning kitchen.
